In no particular order, here are our top 5 offline game for PS4.....
Sleeping Dogs
Sleeping Dogs is an action adventure game developed by United Front Games and published by Square Enix. Sleeping Dogs released way back in 2012 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 but has been ported to new gen consoles. Sleeping Dogs has a large open world map and takes place in China where you are an undercover detective who has infiltrated the Triads which is an organised crime syndicate. The combat is primarily melee based but as you progress more you get access to guns. If you have never heard of this game a fair comparison would be the GTA franchise and also the Saints Row franchise for its overall gameplay. For a game that was released 8 years ago it holds up very well. (Also available on Xbox One, PC, Mac)
The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim
Skyrim is probably one of the most well known and received game by Bethesda the company behind the Fallout Franchise, but lets just forget Fallout 76.Originally being released in 2011 the game has been ported to practically every console and has certainly withstood the test of time in terms of gameplay, things to discover and adventures to be had. The story of Skyrim is you are the Dragonborn, a figure of prophecy who has been tasked to save the world from the threats of the dragons but using a large assortment of skills including magic, melee weapons and ranged weapons. Despite being fifth installment of the Elder Scrolls franchise excluding Elder Scrolls Online Skyrim was their first game of the franchise that people played. With over 20 million copies sold you know your in for a treat. (Also Available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, Xbox One, VR)
The Last Of Us
Ah where to begin with this wonderful title. The Last Of Us dropped back in 2013 on the PS3 developed by Naughty Dog Studios and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The Last Of Us is a 3rd person action adventure game where you take the role of Joel a smuggler who lost his family early on in the zombie outbreak to escort a teenage girl named Ellie across America. The combat features the use of guns, bows and other crafted weapons. There is a strong focus on crafting and inventory management. The Last Of Us captured perfectly the apocalyptic feeling and the idea of threats around every single corner. Interestingly the zombies used in the game use a fungus called The Cordyceps Fungus which I found super interesting. A must play for zombie enthusiasts. (PlayStation exclusive)
Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn is an action adventure game developed by Guerilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment released in 2017. You play as the game's hero named Aloy. The world has been overrun by all different kinds of machines and your mission is to venture out and discover your past and overcome any obstacles that may present themselves along the way. The game features an open world map, plenty of wonderful discovery locations and of course side quests, which is pretty standard for any open world game. Horizon Zero Dawn is set in the first person perspective and offers the player both ranged, melee combat and also traps and the use of explosives. (PlayStation exclusive but with have a PC launch later this year)
Infamous Second Son
Infamous Second Son is the third title in the Infamous franchise, developed by Sucker Punch Studios and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Infamous Second Son was released in 2014 on the playstation 4. The game is a 3rd person perspective action adventure game with an open world map. The story of the game follows the protagonist Delsin Rowe in his fight against D.U.P The Department Of Unified Protection. The thing that makes this game so fun is the superpowers you wield, and as you progress through the game you unlock more. One thing that stands out in the game is the morality meter, meaning that your decisions impact the game and you can choose to play as a hero or as a villain. Games that allow me to make that choice in my opinion are far more immersive and allows me to connect with my character a lot more than if I had to be the good guy no matter what. (PlayStation 4 exclusive)
Honorable mentions
