The Razer Kaira is a wireless gaming headset designed specifically for the Xbox Series S/X. Unlike its big sister the Kaira Pro headset, the Kaira is compatible only with Xbox consoles. So the question is, does the Kaira’s performance justify investing in an Xbox only headset? Let's find out…
The Keira comes looking almost a little lonely in its box, as being an Xbox only headset there are no bluetooth dongles or any of that to worry about; so it's simply, the headset and a USB-C cord. Out of the box, the Razer Kaira is immediately a great looking headset. Sporting Razer’s usual black and green design, the Kaira is undoubtedly one of the sleekest looking headsets I have personally ever used.
The setup:
What setup? Being an Xbox specific headset, the Keira is hands down the easiest wireless headset I’ve ever set up. Literally 1 touch of a pairing button on both your headset and your Xbox and within seconds you're off and running. If you want to set your own custom EQ settings, simply download the Razer headset app from your Xbox console. Simple as that.
The Sound:
The Kaira has some great sound, especially for its price tag. The use of EQ modes including an FPS to simulate the direction of footsteps etc is awesome and actually works surprisingly well.
The Microphone is one of the best features of this headset, the built in boom mic is easily the best/ most accurate sounding mic that I've ever had the opportunity to use on a gaming headset. Overall the sound quality of the Kaira is, in my opinion, on par with some of the better gaming headsets on the market.
The Compatibility:
Just like with the setup process, I say, what compatibility? All joking aside the Razer Kaira isn't meant to be a versatile gaming headset. It's compatible with one console and one console only. Xbox. It's that simple, if you want a headset for any other platform then do not buy this headset.
The Comfort:
The Kaira headset offers an excellent level of comfort, the memory foam earcups really do give them a ‘barely there’ feel and the memory foam cushion on the top of the headband does an excellent job at taking the weight off the top of your head.
The Pro’s:
Sleek design
Great sound quality
Excellent mic quality
Comfortable
Excellent noise cancellation
The Con’s:
Versatility limitations
Non removable mic
Having used the Razer Kaira for over 50 hours, I am happy to report having experienced zero issues; this is a truly great headset. Delivering great sound and luxurious comfort, these are one of the best headsets I've owned and are only let down by their lack of versatility.
The bottom line:
The Kaira and Kaira pro range of headsets from Razer offer users a seamless experience on Xbox Series S/X consoles. So, if you're in the market for a headset for your Series S/X alone then the Kaira is for you. If you're looking for a multi-platform headset then there are definitely better options out there for you.
Do yourself a favour, if you are in the market for a Xbox headset, then give the Razer Keira your full consideration. It is in my opinion one of the best (if not THE BEST) Xbox specific headsets on the market.
