This morning, Sony unveiled the next batch of PS Plus Essential titles, which will be available to all subscribers in March 2025. These three games will be available on March 4th.

PS Plus Essential Games: March 2025

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard (PS5)

  • Sonic Colours: Ultimate (PS4)

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection (PS4 & PS5)

Dragon Age: The Veilguard

I did not see this one coming. Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released in October 2024 and is already available as a free game to PS Plus subscribers. The game gained positive acclaim and was nominated for a Golden Joystick Award for Ultimate Game of the Year. It is surprising to see a relatively recent game take centre stage for PS Plus, but I am not at all disappointed.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the fourth entry in the acclaimed Dragon Age series by BioWare, the same company that gave us Mass Effect, and it has been a decade since the last game, which was Dragon Age: Inquisition, back in 2014. I have never played a Dragon Age game before, but I have heard positive reception from both fans and critics about this game. Action RPGs like this game are something I have not yet explored, but I am looking forward to trying out Veilguard.

Sonic Colours: Ultimate

Sonic Colours: Ultimate is the 2021 remaster of Sonic Colours, which came out on the Wii in 2010. At the time of its release, Sonic games were in a rough patch. Critics hammered Sonic 06, and Sonic and the Secret Rings tried to make Sonic work within a Star Fox-style on-rails game, but it did not work. Sonic Colours was a return to form for the franchise, and it remains a popular 3D Sonic game among fans and critics.

Sonic Colours: Ultimate introduced 4K visuals and 60fps gameplay to the game, but the launch was not positive. Glitches and bugs were evident throughout the game, leaving some players frustrated. However, the game has had notable patches since then and is much more high-functioning than it used to be. Although I am not a big fan of Sonic, I am interested in checking out the game when it comes to PS Plus in March.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection

This is one for all the retro gamers out there. TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection is composed of 13 classic games by Konami originally from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Sega Mega Drive, and Arcades. These 13 different games all came out from 1989 to 1994, with a few of them offering online multiplayer.

As a kid, I was never really into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The 2007 film directed by Kevin Munroe left a bad taste in my mouth, and I never bothered to explore the franchise further. However, I was young and naive at the time, and I have heard really good things about Cowabunga.

I am looking forward to playing it when it comes to PS Plus in March.

PS Plus Essential Games: February 2025

This new line-up of titles also means that there is not much time left to claim the PS Plus Essential games from February. Last month’s title will still be available to add to your library up until March 3rd.
