PRISM+ Q55 Ultra TV Review

The PRISM+ Q55 Ultra boasts a sleek, modern design that will complement almost any living space. Its slim bezel provides an almost edge to edge display, immersing you into your viewing experience. The build quality is solid, with a sturdy stand providing excellent stability despite being very lightweight for a TV product of this size. These minimalistic aesthetics really give the PRISM+ Q55 Ultra a premium look and feel. I have mine freestanding on a TV unit, however if you wish you could wall mount the Q55 Ultra with zero issues due to this lightweight design.

One of the standout features of the Q55 Ultra is its 4K QLED display. The Quantum dot technology delivers vibrant colours with its wide colour gamut. The 4K resolution is pretty standard now across the board with TV’s so this one, as expected, delivers sharp, detailed images, making it perfect for high resolution gaming and 4K content on streaming apps such as Netflix etc. It also supports HDR10+, which enhances contrast and colour accuracy, providing deeper blacks and brighter whites.

Brightness levels are impressive, allowing clear viewing even in the most well lit rooms. I couldn't find any specifics in terms of nits, but brightness has never been a concern in my time using this TV.

Audio quality on the Q55 Ultra is OK. It sounds good enough that you wouldn't be too disappointed, but pairing it with a soundbar will allow for a much more comprehensive listening experience. The TV supports Dolby Atmos, which enhances the audio experience, offering a much richer, more immersive sound.

Let's talk about my standout feature for the Q55 Ultra, the Google OS. Google OS is much, much better than I expected it to be. It integrates perfectly into my day to day life having a house full of google smart home devices. I can be anywhere in my house and have my Google home devices to control my TV, I can cast my devices at the touch of a button and it's just a very intuitive OS to navigate. The smart buttons on the remote to open apps like Netflix, Prime, Youtube and even a spare, remappable button to open any other app of your choice.

Another underrated feature of Google OS TV’s is the ability to create profiles. This allows you to set up a different profile for each person in the house allowing for each person to see only content relevant to them on their home screen. I set up a profile for my daughter so she can watch all her child shows such as Bluey without being able to access any adult related content or changing any important/obscure tv settings.

The Q55 Ultra also offers a good range of connectivity option, such as:

  • 3x HDMI 2.0 ports

  • 2x USB 2.0 ports

  • 1x Ethernet port

  • 1x Optical audio port

  • Bluetooth

  • WI-FI

These options ensure that all your standard devices from gaming consoles to USB drives and even bluetooth headsets or speakers etc will connect with ease.

Performance wise, the Q55 Ultra doesn't disappoint. The TV’s processor ensures smooth operation with quick app launches and minimal lag. Menu navigation is snappy and much more responsive than that of much more expensive TVs I have used. Having said that, there is a minor (2 second) delay when initially pressing the power button before the display comes on meaning on a couple of occasions I’ve actually turned it back off again before it comes on. The upscaling capabilities are great, making non 4K, lower quality content look much better than they otherwise would.

The PRISM+ Q55 Ultra offers exceptional value for money. It combines a bunch of high end features in a cohesive way that delivers quality performance way beyond its price point would suggest. The build quality, technology and smart features make it a competitive option for those looking for a 4K TV.
