PAX Aus 2024 is gearing up to be one of the biggest local entertainment expos in recent memory. The event boasts creatives associated with the gaming industry as they show off their newest projects and discuss everything in between. If gaming is a passing fancy, or you are a true-blood gamer, you will not want to miss PAX this year.
To break down everything coming to PAX Aus this year would result in an article of such enormity. This shows how much the event has in store for us. Instead, I will highlight some of the key people and activities that are worth checking out if you will be attending.
STORY TIME WITH JULIAN WILTON: Friday, October 11th: 12:00 pm-1:00 pm (Main Theatre)
Born and bred in Melbourne, Julian Wilton has made a name for himself in the gaming industry through his company, Massive Monster. Founded in 2016, Julian and his team created the indie gem Cult of the Lamb in 2022. The game was nominated for three BAFTAs, including Best Game.
CONTENT CREATING WITH DISABILITIES & CHRONIC ILLNESSES: FINDING ACCEPTANCE WITHIN GAMING: Friday, October 11th: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm (Fruitbat Theatre)
The advent of careers in content creation has opened up new doors for people to forge relationships with a select fanbase or community. This talk features several notable content creators and streamers who have tackled related issues. They will be there to advise on how to shape a healthy community and what personally works best for them.

CIVILIZATION VII DEVELOPER PANEL: BRINGING YOUR CIV WORLD TO LIFE Friday, October 11th: 11:00 am-12:00 pm (Quokka Theatre)
The next entry in the beloved Sid Meier’s Civilisation series will appear at PAX Aus 2024. Several developers working on Civilisation VII will dive into the creative process, inspirations and concepts for Firaxis’ upcoming game. If you are a fan of the Civilization series, you will not want to miss this panel.
XBOX PRESENTS: IN CONVERSATION WITH RYAN WARDEN, PRODUCTION DIRECTOR OF AVOWED: LIFTING THE LID ON PRODUCTION: Friday, October 11th: 3:00 pm-4:00 pm (Quokka Theatre)
Xbox-owned studio Obsidian Entertainment will launch their new action RPG, Avowed, next year. Production Designer Ryan Warden will appear at PAX to discuss the challenges and opportunities the team have faced to create the game. Avowed is set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, a 2015 game also made by Obsidian. Obsidian’s previous game, The Outer Worlds, was a success. Will the company achieve the same when its RPG hits the market next February?
MOUSE: P.I. FOR FIRE - FIRST LOOK: DEVELOPER PLAYTHROUGH: Saturday, October 12th: 3:00 pm-4:00 pm (Quokka Theatre)
One of my most anticipated games of next year, Mouse: P.I. for Hire, is set to take the stage at PAX. Fumi Games, the team behind the game, will show off a live playthrough in all its glory. Mouse went viral for its cartoon art style and is set to be one of the most unique-looking first-person shooters ever made.
SO YOU WANT TO BE A VOICE ACTOR?: Saturday, October 12th: 3:00 pm-4:00 pm (Main Theatre)
Ever since the advent of voice acting in video games, the industry has seen hundreds of notable voice performances across the board. Notable voice actors including Mark Meer (Commander Shepard in Mass Effect), Aimee Smith (Cloudpunk), Jessica Hutchinson (Dead Static Drive) and more will take the stage and discuss how they got their start in the industry and their advice for aspiring voice actors.
ZELDA UNIVERSE PRESENTS: MORE THAN A DAMSEL: Sunday, October 13th: 1:00 pm-2:00 pm (Quokka Theatre)
If you are a fan of all things Zelda, you will want to take part in this one. Join Zelda Universe, the community fanbase of The Legend of Zelda and dive into the history and the numerous facets the characters have taken over the years. Test your Zelda knowledge with the trivia segments at this event. If you win, a prize may be waiting for you.
