Lucid Sound isn't necessarily a brand most think of when it comes to quality gaming headsets. However, I’ve spent the last month getting to know the LS35X headset and I can tell you that they have definitely come to the party and cemented their name alongside terms like ‘quality gaming headsets’.
About the LucidSound LS35X
More Features
Design
Featuring one of the sleekest designs of any gaming headset available, the LS35X isn't your usual futuristic looking set. Most modern headsets are all about creating strange angles and looking like something from a sci-fi movie, but the LS35X however, is sleek, clean and absolutely a headset you won't feel strange wearing out in public. The metal frame and padded headband with a classy looking stitch pattern, really rounds this headset out as arguably the best looking gaming headset on the market.
The headset features extremely intuitive controls. No longer do you accidentally press the wrong buttons while trying to adjust the volume. Each ear cup features a volume or chat mix adjustment wheel and a large centre button to either mute the game sound or your mic. It’s extremely user centric and an easy control scheme.
The LS35X has dual microphones, making it easy to use with both console and mobile. The boom mic also features a red light to identify whether or not the mic is muted; which I found to be an extremely handy feature.
Setup
Setup was as simple as pressing the sync button on both the headset and my Series X console, and away we went. Setup on PC however, was a little more complicated as the headset only works via the Xbox Wireless Adapter (sold seperately) and even then it took me about 15-20 minutes to get it all up and running.
Comfort
The large memory foam ear cups, infused with cooling gel and padded headband, really help with long gaming sessions. I mean seriously, I wore these for multiple sessions of 4 hours or more and not once did I ever feel too hot under the cups or fatigue on my head or ears. It did take a few adjustments to find the best fit for my head though; with this headset using the old school notch adjustments rather then the more modern elastic headband system.
Performance
In a word, excellent. Featuring stunning bass, awesome spatial and rich sound; compared to a lot of headsets I have tried, these sound as good, if not better than the whole lot. You'll hear every footstep in warzone and be fully immersed in every single game you play. With the addition of Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos, wearing these things while watching a 4K movie becomes your own private cinema screening. The sound is truly rivalling of a good home theatre system and takes your movie experience to the next level. Mic quality is good. Not game changing, but clear and crisp and it absolutely gets the job done. The LS35X battery life is approximately 10 hours on a full charge which is good, but not great.
While the performance of the LS35X is great on the Xbox, and while it does have mobile support, this must be done via an aux cable so I would have preferred bluetooth connectivity to be able to use my headset wirelessly with my mobile and laptop etc.
Pros
Sleek design
Excellent sound
Dual mics
Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic support
Cons
Battery life is on the low side
Lack of bluetooth compatibility
If you want arguably the best looking and easiest to use headset on the market, at a very reasonable price, the LucidSound LS35X could be the headset for you. The LS35X is definitely the complete package. The perfect mix of class, quality and features make this a headset for just about anyone and has made LucidSound my go to headset brand going forward.
