$10,000 TO BE DONATED TO MINUS18 - CHAMPIONS FOR LGBTQIA+ YOUTH

JBL Quantum ANZ today announced its involvement in JBL Quantum Changemakers, highlighting the need for more acceptance and

diversity in different industries. A global brand initiative, the JBL Quantum Changemakers in North America featured top streamers and content creators such as BrookeAB, Ninjayla, Ava.GG and Candace Parker engaged in a candid conversation on the experiences of women in gaming.

In Australasia, the JBL Quantum Changemakers will see local streamer and member of Misfits, Toby On The Tele teaming up with JBL ambassador DJ Tigerlily with special guest Ezra Dickson, Fundraising Coordinator from Minus18. Viewers can tune in to the stream live on Twitch November 17th at 8pm https://www.twitch.tv/tobyonthetele

During the hour-long stream the trio will discuss Toby’s experience of being trans in the world of gaming and the initial prejudice she faced transitioning on such a public forum. DJ Tigerlily will talk about her experience as one of the only female DJs in the music industry and the challenges she’s dealt with throughout her career. Ezra will touch on all of the great work that Minus18 is doing for LGBTQIA+ youth in Australia. Interspersed with the game Fall Guys, the stream is set to be a fun and insightful event.

As a company that celebrates diversity and inclusion, JBL is donating $10,000 to Minus18 during this Trans Awareness Week.

“The power of music to express individuality and bring people from all walks of life together cannot be underestimated. JBL is proud to launch Changemakers which celebrates and encourages diversity and inclusion of all people. We unite in support of the LGBITQA+ community and Trans Awareness week and hope this small donation celebrates Trans Pride and facilitates the workshops to amplify the voices of this community.” says Marcus Fry, General Manager of Harman AUNZ.

Minus18 is Australia’s charity improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth via life-affirming events, leadership programs, and education for the whole community. Youth are at the forefront of Minus18 events – and through this they're equipping LGBTQIA+ young people with the skills they need to be the leaders of tomorrow. The donation will be presented to Minus18’s Fundraising Relationships Coordinator, Ezra Dickson, during the live stream.

“Minus18 are so thrilled that JBL is supporting trans and gender diverse young people during Trans Awareness Week. Thanks to JBL’s incredible contribution, we’re able to continue delivering subsidised LGBTQIA+ education workshops for schools and community groups, as well as free school flag raising ceremony packs.” says Ms Dickson. “With 11,490 people having attended our workshops in 2020-2021, and 500 free packs delivered to schools over IDAHOBIT and Wear It Purple Day this year, donations such as JBL’s are a key part of maximising our impact for queer young people.”

The importance of charities like Minus18 cannot be underestimated. Through a preventative model of mental health support, Minus18 tackles social isolation by creating fun-filled spaces where LGBTQIA+ young people belong and are celebrated. This is something that resonates with Tobi of the Misfits and one of the reasons why she is taking part in the Changemakers online event. “I’m really excited to take part and be a representative of JBL’s Changemakers and have the opportunity to work with Minus18 to make an impact and spread an important message. I wish I had heard more about Minus18 when I was growing up and struggling with my identity.” says Tobi.

For DJ Tigerlily inclusivity and activism are close to her heart. She encourages people to take action for positive change. "I am honoured to be partnering with JBL to raise funds and awareness for Minus18 in celebration of Trans Awareness Week. I know I speak for both myself and JBL when I say that we strive to be good allies, as well as role models. This stream is going to provide a space to have honest conversations, create awareness around trans issues, as well as giving everyone who tunes in a good laugh while they watch my (terrible) gaming skills." says DJ TIGERLILY

JBL Quantum Changemakers featuring Toby on the Tele, DJ Tigerlily and Ezra Dickson will be streamed live on Twitch - November 17th at 8pm. Viewers can watch the stream here https://www.twitch.tv/tobyonthetele
