It was known that The Last of Us would premiere sometime in 2023, but according to the HBO app several hours ago, the show will release on January 15th - which is just shy of a few months away! Personally I was expecting a mid or late next year release date, but if this January release date is confirmed then I'm even more excited knowing it's so much closer than expected, and I know many fans will be to!
In the last few hours since this release date spread on social media however, HBO has now changed the text and gotten rid of the so called release date. Hopefully we can get some confirmation soon, but if this proves to be correct then it's so much sooner than expected!
The Last of Us will have 10 episodes, covering the events of the first game plus a little bit extra that wasn't included in the game. The series will feature (if you haven't heard already) Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, Nico Parker as Sarah and Nick Offerman as Bill, just to name a few! Also featuring in the series is original voice actors Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker, Ellie and Joel respectively. It's unknown what their role will be, but it's said that their roles will be more than typical cameo. Jeffrey Pierce who also voiced Joel's brother Tommy in the game will also be in the series as a new character called 'Perry'.
Us Aussies can catch the show via Binge or Foxtel.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this trailer, but in case you haven't seen it yet or want to take another look check it out;
Not only am I excited for this, but I know most of us at Gaming Australia are also keen to check it out. From what I've seen so far, it looks fantastic and I can't wait to see each character come to life on the screen.
